About –

Marcos Abranches is a choreographer and dancer with a rare condition ‘Choreoathetosis’, which is the result of a brain injury. It is not a disease but a pathological condition that manifests itself in involuntary, intermittent and irregular movements of the face and limbs.

It is important to know that the professional has normal intelligence and uses it as a study reference for the construction of his artistic body language, being the only Brazilian choreographer with cerebral palsy to propose a study on contemporary dance.

Marcos has travelled for performances and work to countries including Germany, Spain, South Korea, the USA, Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia and Peru, among others.

AWARDS: ‘Honour for Merit’ (Marcos Abranches) – OFFCINE22 – Varginha MG (Brazil) – 2023, ‘Mention for Artistic Quality – Marcos Abranches portrayed in the film O Artista e a Força do Pensamento at ASSIM VIVEMOS – 10th International Festival of Films on Disability’ – 2021, Denilto Gomes Award and winner in the Stage Arts category of the Accessibility Award, promoted by SP Escola de Teatro – Centro de Formação das Artes do Palco, both in 2013.
