In 2008 Indepen-dance supported Wils McAslan in the creation of a new piece of work with fellow company member Neil Price.
This collaboration resulted in the creation of “Just 2 Good Pals”. The piece explores the friendship that developed between the company members through dance. Both Neil and Wils are involved in the core of our education outreach work, sharing the delivery of dance workshops to a variety of special schools, day centres and other dance agencies. Both are developing ways of working together to deliver workshops that inspire the participants to engage in the joy of dance. This work was also the beginning of a journey for Wils who seeks to develop his skills as a choreographer. Indepen-dance supports his journey as well as the dreams and aspirations of all the company members.
Since its creation Wils and Neil have performed the duet in the Alexander Gibson Theatre, at the RSAMD, as part of an integrated festival in Cardiff, Wales and most recently in Murcia, Spain as part of an integrated dance conference.
This piece has also been performed by another company member, Kelly McCartney, with Neil in the Waterfront Hall, Belfast, as part of the Southside Festival, Glasgow and again most recently at the Hammersmith Lyric, London as part of Amici Dance Company’s “Open Door” event.
