Weekly Classes

Indepen-dance works with a skilled team of professional dancers to deliver weekly classes to service users, organisations,day centres,  community groups and more. Our weekly classes are split into three categories:

Movement class photographCore Classes: for core members/service users (run on a term by term basis)

Outreach classes: working with a variety of organisations/groups in Glasgow and beyond

Specialised classes: open to non members for a small fee

Core Classes

Every week Indepen-dance runs creative movement classes for people with diverse abilities and their carers. The classes are conducted in a safe and appropriate environment and are designed to be fun, creative and accessible to all with a focus on improvisation and moving together. These classes are for members only. Becoming  a member.

The Indepen-dance handbook also provides information on procedures and fees around our core classes.

Timetable Term 4 2012/2013

Core classes

Mondays: 9th January – 26th  March

- Adult General Class @ CCA, 11am – 12noon / 1pm – 2pm

Wednesdays: 11th January – 28th March

- Adult General Class @ Maryhill Community Centre & Tramway, 11am – 12 noon / 1pm – 2pm

- Professional Performance Company Class @ Tramway, 10:30am – 12 noon (technique) / 12:30 – 2pm (creative movement & expression). Scottish Ballet Education Space – performance group only. Please note: the professional performance classes have been made longer in preparation for the upcoming annual performance in March.

- Youth 1′z @ Unitarian Church, 72 Berkeley Street, Glasgow, G3 7DS, 6.30pm – 8pm (members only aged 13 – 20 with or without additional needs)  More information.

Thursdays: 12th January – 29th March

- Adult General class @ Tramway,  11am – 12 noon / 1pm – 2pm

Fridays: 13th January – 30th March

- Adult General Class @  Langside Halls, Langside Avenue, Glasgow 11am – 12 noon

Looking Ahead

Term 1 will commence on the 16th April running until the end of June 2012 for a 10 week block.

Fridays

- New Weekly ‘Express yourself through dance’ Movement Classes in Ayr @ Sutherland House, 10:30am-11:30am, £3 per class (starting 2nd September 2011)

Saturdays

- Integrated Creative Movement Sessions @ The Stand, Clydebank, 11am – 12 noon

Specialised Classes

Thursdays: from 12th January – 29th March

Dancer

- Adult Touchtrust Class @ Theatre Nemo, 130 Bridgegate, Glasgow, G1 5HZ

These classes are £5 per session. Maximum of 10 participants per session.

Aimed at helping those with severe and complex learning disabilities to access creative movement sessions.  The sessions provide creative, touch-based art of movement and dance programmes, which encourage the participant’s self-development and active life-long learning within a social, creative and nurturing environment

We advise that the participants come half an hour before the session starts  to be allowed to settle in the room and come out of wheelchairs to sit in the seating/bedding provided.

Thursdays: 12th January  - 29th March

- Dance Your Socks Off @ Tramway,  10:15am – 10:45am, £3.50 per family (for parents and children aged 0-5). Please arrive at 10am.

Let’s wriggle, jiggle & giggle to the beat, all socks and shoes off please – let’s see your bare feet. Come and get your little one to play and have a ball. There will be lots of interaction and fun for all.
