This week is SCLD’s Learning disability week. As part of this we want to do something a bit special. Each day this week, our dancers and other staff are going to write a day in the life blog showing exactly what they get up to in their day to day work. We really value all our staff an believe they are the most deserving people for the jobs that they are in. Check back each day for different stories.
Our first blogs are from none other that Sean and Amy.
I woke up at 6.30am, jumped in the shower had my breakfast and left for work at 8am. I travelled in my car to the office in order to catch up on my emails and prepare my classes for the day.
Around 10am I headed over to the Centre for Contemporary Arts to teach the first of the two adult classes. This term I’ve been using music from different eras and today’s era was the 70s. We did lots of disco-ing and booging, and even the YMCA! At lunch time I headed over to one of the lovely cafes on Sauchiehall Street and I take time to reflect on the class and make plans for the second class. I headed back to CCA for the afternoon class and we continued with the 70s theme. Once I finished teaching it was back to the office to plan the rest of my week and managed to finish by 4.30pm.
Once I got home I headed back out to a café to do some research for my uni course, I amcurrently studying for my MEd in Learning and Teaching in the Performing Arts as well as being full-time Dance Development Worker for Indepen-dance. At 7pm I went home andstarted making a veggie curry for myself and my boyfriend, as we are doing Meat-free Mondays! After dinner I read some more of my Harry Potter book before going to bed.
I finished my class for today. I was at Knightswood and Clydebank sports centre and the people did have fun to spend some time with Ruth Massie and Sean Harrigan. We did some dance today. And they had lots of fun. We did all different levels up and down low and dancing with a partner and also have fun. It’s about to have fun and experience how dance to be creative and fun with it. And I came home today at 2:30 and to have my lunch. I am having chicken for my lunch. Today and later on I am watching TV and having my dinner for my dinner I am having steak pie today and playing with my dog his name is Cooper
That’s my day for today
