We’re so delighted to share that Indepen-dance were awarded an Arts and Business 30th anniversary award, chosen by Glasgow Life.
“We wanted to ensure that we gave an award to an organisation who has proved over a long period of time that they are exceptionally inclusive in all manners. The company that is going to get this award is a dance company that has been part of Glasgow’s cultural community for over 20 years. The company was started to make sure that disability was no barrier to taking part and socialising and readily enjoying the benefits of dance. Today the company continues to offer 18 sessions per week to over 400 people and lead the way in inclusive dance participation and performance in Scotland. They have international links and exchanges and the company works with a range of professional choreographers, to keep the work fresh and of the highest possible quality. They perform in festivals and events across the UK and Europe and hold an international dance and disability conference every two years in Glasgow. The company continues to open up opportunities for all the dancers from beginners to profesional level.” – Jill Miller OBE Director of Cultural Services at Glasgow Life
